Songwoo EM Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Songwoo EM) signed a three-party letter of intent (LOI) with Dainen Material (hereinafter referred to as DNM) and Tohei Sangyo Korea (hereinafter referred to as TSK) at Songwoo EM Sihwa R&D Center on November 23, 2023.

With this agreement, Songwoo EM will secure stable production of the world's highest quality natural nodular graphite, DNM will provide technology and analysis of secondary battery anode materials, and sales in the Japanese and global markets, and TSK will provide third-party support for the distribution of natural nodular graphite. It is now possible to negotiate in advance technical partnerships and final contracts.

As a result, Songwoo EM introduced Japan's advanced technology for secondary battery anode materials and conducted verification of the battery performance of its spheroidal graphite products, analysis of high-density spheroidal graphite products among its products, and research on the use of high-performance anode materials under the leadership of DNM. Of course, we have established a bridgehead for establishing new overseas markets.

DMN is a subsidiary of the Dainen Group, which started as a fuel company in 1938 and has an 85-year history. It is a member of the Japan Battery Association and specializes in research and development and quality control of anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. Currently, about 50,000 tons of natural spherical graphite for lithium-ion batteries is in demand annually in Japan, of which about 20,000 tons are supplied to Jappanese battery company, and it plans to receive SPG (Spherical Purified Graphite, Natural Nodular Graphite) through Songwoo EM to be used in the future.

TSK is a mid-sized trading company that handles carbon and industrial raw materials in Japan with a 46-year history. In the future, it plans to conduct aggressive sales through its sales network in relation to the distribution of Songwoo EM's natural nodular graphite.

Songwoo EM provided samples of general nodular graphite to DMN for analysis and evaluation in February 2023, and provided samples of high-density nodular graphite to DMN in July 2023 for testing and analysis, and then shared the samples with battery-related companies in Japan. It was confirmed to be an excellent high-density product, and DMN plans to sell large quantities of high-density nodular graphite samples after April 2024.
